New challenges for Business and Regional competitiveness: Automation

New challenges for Business and Regional competitiveness: Automation

It may seem paradoxical that one of the trends that is most spoken about lately, is in fact, not a new phenomenon as it has been present in one industrial revolution after another. What we are referring to is automation, something which is extremely topical due the most recent wave on such a grand scale, both qualitatively and quantitatively speaking.

This new wave will have a far-reaching impact and will open up a world of new possibilities and challenges for two main reasons: Firstly, cheaper, more versatile new technology will facilitate access to increasingly smaller niche sectors and organisations. And, secondly, because of the fact that in the current era, computerisation is closely tied-in with automation.

We are therefore, facing a revolution which is crucial to the competitiveness of both companies and Regions. As on previous occasions, B+I Strategy aims to contribute to this ongoing debate on subjects such as innovation and advanced manufacturing in as rigorous a manner possible while considering every perspective. Hence, on 13th June 2017, we organised a conference where academics, company directors and representatives of various institutions explored the issues related to contemporary automation. As a result, the event gave us here at B+I Strategy food for thought, and we hope that the observations contained in this brief report in the PDF. below will do the same for readers.
