On 1st December the B+I Strategy team took part in a workshop on leaders in niche international markets. Referring to the lack of visibility, the term 'Hidden Champions' is a concept which arose out of Germany to explain the reality of a group of relatively unknown medium-sized companies, but which are highly competitive.
Based on research conducted to date, B+I Strategy is working with this idea in order to come up with fresh and novel ideas and solutions for our clients. To that end, we invited Bart Kamp, lead researcher in the area of Business Internationalisation at Orkestra (The Basque Institute of Competitiveness) to share his findings with us. After reviewing the main features of Hidden Champions during the workshop, a lively discussion was held amongst all participants regarding the validity of such a concept for Basque companies.
Bart Kamp is the latest in a long line of internationally prestigious researchers with whom we here at B+I have had the privilege of learning from over the years. Other researchers include: Andrew Neely, Luis Huete, Joan Enric Ricart, Iñigo Echeveste, and Göran Roos.
